Sample Applications

To help kick start your ActiveFile development project, six fully functioning applications have been provided under the samples folder of the program directory (C:\Program Files\Infomentum ActiveFile) in which you installed ActiveFile. In order to run the sample applications you must create a virtual directory with execute permission that maps to the samples folder.

ActiveFile Explorer

The ActiveFile Explorer sample application demonstrates how easy it is to build a web-based file browser using ActiveFile. From this application you can navigate your file system as well as download and upload files. If you are just starting out, this sample application is a great reference for many of the core features of ActiveFile.

ActiveFile Explorer, Download Filter Version

This application is identical to ActiveFile Explorer with one small change. Download processing has been changed to take advantage of the ActiveFile Download Filter. Functionally, this version of ActiveFile Explorer will allow web browsers to display the correct default filename in file 'Save As' dialogs. If you are building an application that utilizes ActiveFile's file download capabilities, this application is a good point of reference.

ActiveFile Database Explorer

The ActiveFile Archive sample application demonstrates how to use a database to store and retrieve files as well as how to associate other attribute information along with a file.

The ActiveFile Briefcase sample application demonstrates how to manipulate ZIP archives. In this sample application each user is given their own 'briefcase' ZIP file on the server that they can store and retrieve documents from by for uploading and downloading files.

ActiveFile Sandbox

The ActiveFile Sandbox sample application demonstrates how to integrate security with ActiveFile to limit which files that are accessible to a given user. In this sample application each user is given their own directory or 'sandbox' area for uploading and downloading files.
